Sudrak Khongpuang – The violet river, 2013
“I’ll Spread My Wings” is a solo exhibition of latest artworks by Sudrak Khongpuang, a talented female Thai artist with a Bachelors Degree in Art and Masters in Art Education from Burapha University. In this exhibition, the artist illustrates infinite freedom of simple Thai life under peaceful skies and mesmerizing nature.
As an artist living within four walls of a polluted cosmopolitan city, Sudrak escapes it all through her paintings. Through her works, she connects her spirit with the veiled bird flying above the vast rice fields, river streams, and earth populated by people who live within the scent of this greenery every day. The landscapes exude a peaceful and wondrous quality which both entraps and alleviates viewers’ experience.
A contemporary public figure, Bryant McGill stated, “Simplicity is the most complex concept you will ever contemplate.” A statement which people universally can relate to, viewers implore similar thoughts with the simple yet complicated brush strokes of Sudrak’s works.
